Local Sugar Prices in Riau Increase by 20% in a Week

The price of local granulated sugar in Riau was Rp 15,000 per kg on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Compared to other regions, this is the highest price increase in the last week.

According to daily monitoring of staple food commodity prices from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center, the price of local granulated sugar in Riau has increased by 20% in a week.

Meanwhile, compared to the price 30 days prior, the price of local granulated sugar in this region has increased by 20%. This means there has been a significant increase in a month. Compared to the last year's prices, the current selling price of local granulated sugar in Riau's modern markets is the highest on record.

For the period January-July 2022, the price of local granulated sugar in modern markets has continued to rise, increasing by 20% compared to the previous month.

The price of local granulated sugar reached its lowest point of Rp 15,000 per kg on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. The highest price reached this year was also around Rp 15,000 per kg.

Nationally, the price of local granulated sugar began to rise towards the end of 2021. The average price of local granulated sugar in modern markets was Rp 13,980 per kg, up 4.25% compared to the end of last week.
