The average expenditure of Yogyakarta city residents on eggs and milk in 2023 was Rp10,170 per capita per week. This figure is lower than the previous year's expenditure, which was recorded at Rp10,360 per capita per week.

Per capita expenditure is the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members over a month, divided by the number of household members. This expenditure can be categorized into two parts: food and non-food needs.

Expenditure on food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food expenditure is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The average per capita consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and not) by the total population.

The five largest expenditure items for eggs and milk in Yogyakarta city, in descending order, are: layer chicken eggs (Rp4,569.32 per capita per week), powdered milk (Rp2,470.98 per capita per week), processed liquid milk (Rp1,158.81 per capita per week), infant formula (Rp834.46 per capita per week), and the lowest expenditure is for duck eggs/Manila duck eggs (Rp79.24 per capita per week).

According to Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) publications, the average per capita expenditure in Yogyakarta city reached Rp2.24 million per capita per month in March 2023. This figure increased by 6.17% compared to March 2022, which was Rp2.11 million per capita per month.

Based on region, the highest expenditure on eggs and milk was in Pangkal Pinang city and the lowest was in Mamberamo Tengah regency. Yogyakarta city's expenditure on eggs and milk ranked 102nd. Meanwhile, the national average per capita expenditure on eggs and milk is Rp257.5 per capita per week.
