Sarolangun Regency's 2023 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached Rp21.51 trillion. This represents a 4.02% growth compared to the previous year's Rp20.77 trillion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID, growth recorded a decrease of 0.25%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) data, with a total population of 302,990, the GRDP per capita in the region is recorded at Rp71,160,000 per capita per year. Nationally, this ranks 122nd.
Of the 17 sectors driving the regency's economy, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are the leading sectors.
Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are ranked first. In 2023, this sector contributed the largest amount to the GRDP, reaching Rp6.24 trillion, with a growth of 5.39%.
The mining and quarrying sector grew by 0.82% to Rp5.43 trillion, and the construction sector contributed Rp2.65 trillion (5.08% growth).
Rounding out the top five GRDP contributors in Sarolangun Regency is the public administration, defense, and compulsory social security sector, valued at Rp995.94 billion. According to BPS, this sector grew by 3.21% over the past year from the previous year's Rp953.09 billion.

In terms of distribution, the mining and quarrying sector contributed the most to GRDP growth in Sarolangun Regency, accounting for 32.73%. Other sectors in the top five include agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; construction; wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; and information and communication.
Sectors with the smallest distribution include other services; real estate; business services; water supply; waste management, waste and recycling; and electricity and gas supply.
