Google: Indonesia's Digital Economy Holds the Greatest Potential in Southeast Asia

Indonesia's digital economy is projected to be the largest in Southeast Asia by 2025, according to Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company. Its value is predicted to reach US$146 billion by 2025.

In 2021, Indonesia's digital economy potential was valued at US$70 billion. Therefore, growth by 2025 will exceed 100%.

Following Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand are projected to see significant growth in their digital economy sales. Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company forecast Thailand's digital economy potential to reach US$56 billion, while Vietnam's is projected to be slightly higher at US$57 billion.

Singapore, on the other hand, is projected to have the lowest growth in digital economy potential, increasing from US$15 billion in 2021 to US$27 billion.

According to a study by CELIOS and Pluang, the growth of the Southeast Asian digital economy is driven by factors such as the emergence of retail investment applications, integration with payment platforms, referral codes to attract users, and low initial capital and transaction costs.
