MoEF: Number of Hotspots in Indonesia Reaches 5,425 in Last 24 Hours (Thursday, September 25, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), the last 24-hour monitoring shows 5,425 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 258 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of satellite imagery from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA, accessed on Thursday (September 25, 2025) at 11:07 AM WIB. Of the 5,425 detected hotspots, 182 points have a high hotspot confidence level, 5,014 points are medium scale, and 229 points are low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale has a range of 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

Most detected hotspots are in West Kalimantan, with 2,797 points. Central Kalimantan ranks second with 922 hotspots. South Sumatra is in third position with 481 hotspots.

A total of 285 hotspots were detected in East Kalimantan, followed by Bangka Belitung Islands with 208 hotspots, and East Nusa Tenggara and Lampung each having 185 and 80 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires for large areas.
