Kupang City Residents' Food Consumption Insufficiency Rate Rose by 12.64% in 2025

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (Prevalence of Undernourishment/PoU) in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara, reached 12.64% in 2025.

This figure increased by 0.12% from the previous year's 12.52%, while over the last 5 years, it rose by 0.06%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 7.89% in 2025. This means that the PoU in Kupang City is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food insecurity and nutritional status.

This means that the proportion of Kupang City residents who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient is not more than 12.64% of the total population.
