Prevalence of Undernourishment in Kampar Decreased by 1.26% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Kampar Regency, Riau reached 10.75% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 1.26% from the previous year''s 12.01%, while in the last 5 years it increased by 2.76%.

The average PoU for Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Kampar Regency is higher than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity conditions.

This means that less than 10.75% of the total population in Kampar Regency consumes food but lacks sufficient energy.

Compared to 11 other regencies/cities in Riau Province, Kampar Regency''s PoU is ranked 6th. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Rokan Hulu Regency (9.27%) and the highest (last rank) is Indragiri Hilir Regency (13.23%).
