Bulukumba's Population Food Consumption Adequacy Rate Decreased by 10.71% in 2023

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi, reached 10.71% in 2023.

This figure is down 3.99% from the previous year's 14.7%, while it has increased by 2.96% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Bulukumba Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Bulukumba Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient, does not reach 10.71% of the total population.
