Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 05:59 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 15 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the eruption was not visually observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 8.8 millimeters and a duration of 217 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on August 1, 2024, from 18:00 to 23:59 WITA showed 1 eruption earthquake with an amplitude of 22 millimeters and a duration of 351 seconds.

Furthermore, there were 2 low-frequency earthquakes with amplitudes of 2.9-4.4 millimeters and durations of 34-39 seconds, and 1 shallow volcanic earthquake with an amplitude of 2.9 millimeters and a duration of 11 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 3-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and Mount Lewotobi Perempuan, and within 4 kilometers in the northeast sector and 5 kilometers in the northeast sector from the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

During 2024, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 2,244 volcanic eruptions/eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (777 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 434 times.
