The Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in West Coast Reaches 7.23% in 2023

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung, reached 7.23% in 2023.

This figure is down 1.8% from the previous year's 9.03%, and down 1.43% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Pesisir Barat Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the percentage of residents in Pesisir Barat Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient is less than 7.23% of the total population.
