Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Sumedang Reaches 5.43% in 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Sumedang Regency, West Java, was 5.43% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 0.12% from the previous year's 5.55%, while over the last 5 years, it increased by 0.53%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Sumedang Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 5.43% of the total population in Sumedang Regency consumes food but has insufficient energy needs.
