Mount Ibu Erupts Again Tonight (Saturday, October 11, 2025)

Mount Ibu in North Maluku erupted again on Saturday (11/10/2025) at 19:53 WIT. In the last week, Mount Ibu has erupted 15 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the observed ash column reached None meters above the summit (None meters above sea level).

Visual eruption was not observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 12 millimeters and a duration of 36 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcanic activity report, Mount Ibu's activity level is at Level II (Alert). Seismic observations on October 11, 2025, from 00:00-23:59 WIT showed 127 eruption/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of 10-28 millimeters and earthquake durations of 30-169 seconds.

Subsequently, there was 1 exhalation earthquake with an amplitude of 32 millimeters and a duration of 6 seconds, and 20 harmonic earthquakes with amplitudes of 2-20 millimeters and durations of 12-144 seconds.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Ibu and visitors/tourists not to carry out activities within a radius of 2.0 kilometers and a sectoral expansion of 3.5 kilometers towards the crater opening in the northern part of Mount Ibu's active crater.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,622 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,606 times) while Mount Ibu erupted 2,369 times.
