According to a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), numerous hospitals in the Gaza Strip have become non-functional due to Israeli attacks since the beginning of October 2023.
As of the 38th day of the war, November 13, 2023, the daily updates on casualties, usually provided by the Gaza Ministry of Health, have ceased.
"All hospitals in Gaza City and North Gaza, except for one, have reportedly been non-functional since November 13 due to power outages, shortages of medical supplies, oxygen, food, and water, in addition to the bombing and fighting around the hospitals," OCHA stated in its report on Monday, November 13, 2023.
"On November 13, for the third consecutive day following the disruption of services and communication in hospitals in Gaza City and North Gaza, the Gaza Ministry of Health did not update the casualty figures," it continued.
According to data compiled by OCHA, the last reported Palestinian casualty figures in the Gaza Strip were from November 10, 2023, totaling 11,078.
By November 13, 2023, one additional Palestinian casualty was reported in the West Bank, bringing the total to 173.
Therefore, as of November 13, 2023, the total reported Palestinian casualties in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank reached 11,251.
This figure is approximately nine times higher than the total Israeli casualties, which stand at 1,249.
Israel previously reported their casualties as 1,400. However, this figure was revised downward since November 9, 2023, as shown in the graph.
In addition to halting casualty reports, the paralysis of hospitals in Gaza City and North Gaza further threatens the lives of local residents.
"As warned by the World Health Organization (WHO), this will become a 'death sentence,' considering the entire medical system (in Gaza City and North Gaza) is collapsing and hospitals in South Gaza cannot accept more patients," OCHA said.
