The National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) recorded that throughout 2025, there were 24,472 reported cases of sexual violence in Indonesia.
This figure is based on reporting data and Komnas Perempuan’s records compiled in its 2025 annual report (Catahu).
By category, technology-facilitated sexual violence—also known as online sexual violence (KSBE)—was the most reported, with 4,873 cases.
Other most common categories included sexual harassment, with 1,447 cases, and rape/sexual intercourse/sexual exploitation of girls, totaling 1,141 cases.
Beyond these three categories, reported cases were all below 1,000.
In fact, certain types—such as forced sterilization, forced contraception, and marital rape—remain underreported.
Komnas Perempuan noted that some categories of sexual violence still lack data. This reflects limitations in the data collection system, including the incomplete use of classifications under the Sexual Violence Crime Law (TPKS), with some cases still recorded under other legal provisions.
“The recording system is not yet fully aligned with the classification of forms of violence regulated under the TPKS Law,” the report states.
This also includes cases that are still broadly classified and have not yet been grouped or specified, such as sexual harassment and other TPKS categories.
