News of Pope Francis's death brings deep sorrow to the Catholic community worldwide, including Indonesia.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Disdukcapil), at the end of 2024 there were 8.74 million Catholics in Indonesia, equivalent to 3% of the national population.

East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is the province with the highest number of Catholics, reaching 3.08 million, equivalent to 54% of the province's total population.
