Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again This Evening (Friday, March 7, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 5:35 PM WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 10 times.

According to eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to reach None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

The eruption was not visually observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 29.6 millimeters and a duration of 50 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on March 7, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM WITA showed 2 eruption quakes with an amplitude of 22 millimeters and a duration of 52-55 seconds.

Furthermore, there were 4 tremor quakes with an amplitude of 2.9-29.6 millimeters and a duration of 30-94 seconds, and 3 harmonic tremors with an amplitude of 2.2-5.9 millimeters and a duration of 92-138 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 5-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and in the southwest-north-northeast sector up to 6 kilometers.

During 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 1,950 volcanic eruptions/eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (916 eruptions), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 148 times.
