Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Rokan Hilir Increased by 1.87% in the Last 5 Years

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau reached 10.47% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 2.15% from the previous year''s 12.62%, while over the last 5 years, it increased by 1.87%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means the PoU in Rokan Hilir Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This implies that not more than 10.47% of the total population in Rokan Hilir Regency consumes food but falls short of their energy requirements.

Compared to 11 other regencies/cities in Riau Province, Rokan Hilir Regency ranks 5th in PoU. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Rokan Hulu Regency (9.27%), and the highest (last rank) is Indragiri Hilir Regency (13.23%).
