MoEF Detects 255 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in Riau (Friday, November 7, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 255 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 158 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Friday (11/7/2025) at 11:53 AM WIB. Of the 255 hotspots detected, 1 point had a high confidence level, 243 points were medium scale, and 11 points were low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale ranges from 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in Riau with 60 points. East Kalimantan ranked second with the highest number of hotspots at 58 points. North Maluku was in third position with 42 hotspots.

A total of 22 hotspots were detected in South Kalimantan, followed by Southeast Sulawesi with 19 hotspots, and Central Sulawesi and North Kalimantan each having 8 and 7 hotspots detected.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over large areas.
