Ministry of Environment and Forestry: Number of Hotspots in Indonesia Reaches 74 in the Last 24 Hours (Thursday, December 11, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), the last 24-hour monitoring shows that 74 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 26 points compared to the previous period.

This data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Thursday (11/12/2025) at 11.27 AM WIB. Of the 74 detected hotspots, 73 were medium scale and 1 was low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale has a range of 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of a forest and land fire occurring in a particular area.

The highest number of detected hotspots was in Central Sulawesi with 17 points. North Maluku ranked second with 13 hotspots. West Java was in third place with 7 hotspots.

As many as 7 hotspots were detected in East Kalimantan, followed by South Kalimantan with 6 hotspots, and East Java and South Sulawesi each having 4 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
