10 Provinces with the Lowest Poverty Rates in March 2024

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of poor people in Indonesia in March 2024 reached 25.22 million.

This is equivalent to 9.03% of the total national population.

However, several provinces have poverty ratios or percentages below the national average.

In March 2024, the percentage of poor people in Bali was only 4%, the lowest in Indonesia.

Other provinces with relatively low poverty rates are South Kalimantan, DKI Jakarta, Bangka Belitung Islands, and Central Kalimantan.

Following these are Riau Islands, East Kalimantan, Banten, West Sumatra, and West Kalimantan, with details as shown in the graph.

BPS defines poor people as those with average expenditures below the poverty line.

The poverty line is a benchmark of minimum expenditure for food and non-food items that must be met to avoid being categorized as poor.

The national poverty line in March 2024 was Rp582,932 per capita per month.

Therefore, people whose monthly expenditure is below this standard are categorized as poor, while those whose expenditure is equal to or higher than this are not considered poor.
