Banten Population Mobility Increases, PSBB Re-Implemented

The Banten Provincial Government has re-implemented Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) starting Monday, September 7th. This is due to a resurgence in Covid-19 cases in the province. As of Sunday, September 6th, Banten had 3,187 confirmed positive cases, with an additional 85 cases reported that day.

This increase in the rate of Covid-19 transmission is directly correlated with the increasing mobility of Banten's population. Since August 23rd, 2020, activity in retail and recreational venues has increased from -13% to 6% on September 1st. This rise in public mobility has also occurred in other sectors, namely wholesale and pharmacy outlets, as well as parks.

Meanwhile, mobility in transit stations and workplaces remains relatively low. Based on September 1st data, activity in these locations was -42% and -25%, respectively.
