Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again Tonight (Thursday, October 10, 2024)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 6:07 PM WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 20 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the eruption was not visually observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 6.6 millimeters and a duration of 361 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Observations of seismic activity on October 10, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 11:59 PM WITA showed 1 eruption earthquake with an amplitude of 5.9 millimeters and a duration of 429 seconds.

Then, 1 harmonic earthquake with an amplitude of 2.9 millimeters and a duration of 275 seconds, and 3 shallow volcanic earthquakes with amplitudes of 2.9-7.4 millimeters and durations of 8-13 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 3-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and Mount Lewotobi Perempuan, and 4 kilometers in the northeast sector and 5 kilometers in the northeast sector from the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

During 2024, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 4,394 volcanic eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Ibu in North Maluku had the most eruptions (1,814 eruptions), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 767 times.
