Cimahi City Residents' Food Consumption Insufficiency Rate Rises 5.43% in 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Cimahi City, West Java, reached 5.43% in 2024.

This figure increased by 2.45% from the previous year's 2.98%, and by 2.33% over the last 5 years.

Indonesia's average PoU was 8.27% in 2024, meaning Cimahi City's PoU is lower than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 5.43% of Cimahi City's total population consumes food but with insufficient energy intake.

Compared to 26 other regencies/cities in West Java Province, Cimahi City's PoU ranks 11th. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Depok City (4.52%), and the highest (last rank) is Bogor City (7.98%).
