The Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Rokan Hilir Reached 12.62% in 2023

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau, was 12.62% in 2023.

This figure is down 3.31% from the previous year's 15.93%, while it has increased by 2.68% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Rokan Hilir Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Rokan Hilir Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient does not reach 12.62% of the total population.
