Tabalong Residents' Food Consumption Deficiency Rate Drops 2.52% in 2025

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan reached 2.52% in 2025.

This figure decreased by 0.54% from the previous year's 3.06%, while in the last 5 years it increased by 0.47%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that Tabalong Regency's PoU is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes insufficient food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that Tabalong Regency residents who consume food but do not meet their energy needs account for no more than 2.52% of the total population.

Compared to the other 12 regencies/cities in South Kalimantan Province, Tabalong Regency's PoU ranks 2nd. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Tanah Bumbu Regency (2.48%) and the highest (last rank) is Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency (6.16%).
