How many government devices are there at the village level in Indonesia?

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded an average of 13 civil servants per village in Indonesia in 2020. The highest average was for the position of village headman, with four people.

The average number of head of affairs was three per village. The position of section head averaged two per village. Meanwhile, the average number of village heads and village secretaries was one each.

By province, the highest average number of village officials was in Yogyakarta, at 25 people. Banten and Bali followed with an average of 17 village officials.

Public services in villages are highly dependent on the presence of civil servants in the village office. In general, the civil servant positions are fully filled in village offices. Variations only occur in the number of personnel in each structural position.
