There Are 5,315 Tuberculosis-Alert Villages in Indonesia, Here’s the Distribution

The Ministry of Home Affairs established 5,315 TB-prepared villages in 11 priority provinces in Indonesia by 2026. This targets areas that have not yet achieved a 100% TB treatment target in the past year.

According to Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Akhmad Wiyagus, this TB-prepared village/subdistrict program is strategic for actively detecting cases, increasing public education, and supporting patients until they complete their treatment.

"These prepared villages will assist local government leaders in eliminating tuberculosis at a micro level by involving villages and subdistricts, as well as promoting community participation," said Akhmad at a press conference for World TB Day 2026 on Monday (April 6, 2026).

Among the total TB-prepared villages in Indonesia, South Sulawesi has the most with 1,496 villages. This is followed by Banten with 1,198 villages, while other regions have fewer than a thousand prepared villages.

Here are the numbers of TB-prepared villages in 11 priority provinces in Indonesia by 2026:

1. South Sulawesi: 1,496 villages
2. Banten: 1,198 villages
3. West Java: 948 villages
4. East Java: 691 villages
5. Central Java: 418 villages
6. DKI Jakarta: 267 villages
7. North Sumatra: 255
8. South Sumatra: 22 villages
9. Yogyakarta Special Region: 10 villages
10. Lampung: 8 villages
11. NTT: 2 villages

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health reported that there are currently an estimated 1.09 million TB cases in Indonesia. Of these, only 867 cases were treated in 2025, while around 300 cases have not yet been detected.
