KLHK: Number of Hotspots in Indonesia Reaches 1,006 in Last 24 Hours (Tuesday, August 19, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours shows that 1,006 hotspots were detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 128 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of satellite imagery from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA, accessed on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) at 11:54 AM WIB. Of the 1,006 detected hotspots, 57 points have a high hotspot confidence level, 916 points are medium scale, and 33 points are low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale has a range of 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a certain area.

The most detected hotspots were in North Sumatra, with 363 points. West Kalimantan ranked second with 259 hotspots. Aceh was in third place with 180 hotspots.

As many as 49 hotspots were detected in East Nusa Tenggara, followed by West Nusa Tenggara with 35 hotspots, and Riau and East Java each had 31 and 21 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point in an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicate the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective for monitoring forest and land fires over a wide area.
