With the increasing Omicron rate in Indonesia, 144 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data from the week of October 16, 2022, shows a national average of 137.25 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Malang, West Bandung, Indramayu, Batam City, and Karawang, with 995, 986, 971, 919, and 885 people tested per week, respectively.
Malang ranks first, with 995 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 5.23 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is West Bandung, where 986 people were tested per week in an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate is 4.67 percent, also down from the previous week.
Following this, 971 people were tested in Indramayu per week, 919 in Batam City, and 885 in Karawang.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national Covid data, 206 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested per week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 122 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested per week compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some of the regions with the highest number of people tested per week include Batam City, Pekanbaru City, and Samarinda City, with 919, 811, and 748 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
