A report from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) shows that many provinces still have a Covid-19 third dose vaccination coverage, or booster, below 30% as of April 17, 2022. A total of 25 provinces had not achieved booster vaccination coverage above that figure in the week leading up to the peak of the 2022 Lebaran exodus.
Ministry of Health spokesperson Siti Nadia Tarmizi stated that booster vaccination coverage in Indonesia remains relatively low. "Only 9 provinces have booster vaccination coverage above 30%," Nadia said in a press conference on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
According to the Kemenkes report, Bali ranks highest with the highest booster vaccination coverage at 62.08%. Riau Islands is in second place with 44.26% booster vaccination coverage.
Next, West Java and Banten have booster vaccination coverage of 35.74% and 35.73%, respectively. This is followed by DKI Jakarta with 35.34% booster vaccination coverage.
North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, and Yogyakarta Special Region have booster vaccination coverage of 33.77%, 31.48%, and 31%, respectively. Meanwhile, Aceh has a booster vaccination coverage of 30.74%.
Nadia urged people not to get their booster vaccinations immediately before departing for the exodus. She added that booster vaccinations should be done several days before the departure date to avoid adverse events following immunization (AEFI) or side effects that could disrupt travel plans.
