Although President Joko Widodo has relaxed Indonesia's mask-wearing policy, the majority of the population still adheres to using masks to prevent the Covid-19 virus in the country.
A Jakpat survey revealed that 69% of respondents stated they always wear masks, both indoors and outdoors. Several reasons explain why people continue to use masks.
The majority, or 75% of respondents, said they continue to wear masks to protect themselves from air pollution and unpleasant odors. 69% of respondents wear masks to protect themselves from the spread of other viruses.
Furthermore, 64% of respondents use masks to prevent the spread of Covid-19. 62% also stated that they have been using masks for a long time, and 50% said they feel more comfortable wearing them.
Other reasons include increased confidence (33%), covering facial expressions (22%), and saving on cosmetics (16%). 1% of respondents gave other reasons.
This survey was conducted among 356 respondents from June 7-8, 2022, and June 20-23, 2022. The survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires through the Jakpat application with a margin of error below 3%.
