According to a recent Nikkei report, as of September 30, 2021, Indonesia's COVID-19 recovery index ranked 54th out of 121 countries surveyed, with a score of 54.5 points. This is the highest ranking among Southeast Asian countries.
Indonesia's COVID-19 recovery index ranking improved from the previous period reported by Nikkei. In July 2021, Indonesia's COVID-19 recovery index score was ranked 92nd.
The index score is an accumulation of three assessment categories: infection management, vaccination rollout, and mobility. The higher the ranking, the closer the country is to recovering from COVID-19.
Singapore ranked second with an index score of 49 points, placing it 70th, a drop of 56 places from the previous period due to a recent surge in cases.
Cambodia followed with a COVID-19 recovery index score of 48 points, ranking 76th. Malaysia rose to 102nd from 115th with an index score of 41 points.
Myanmar ranked 105th with a COVID-19 recovery index score of 40.5 points. Thailand ranked 109th with a COVID-19 recovery index score of 40 points.
Vietnam ranked 118th with a score of 33 points. However, regarding vaccination, Vietnam achieved a perfect score in the 'new doses per capita' sub-category assessment. Laos ranked 120th with an index score of 31.5 points.
The Philippines ranked 121st with an index score of 30.5 points. While the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines has begun to decline since its second peak on September 29th, only 30% of its population is fully vaccinated, the lowest in ASEAN.
