The highest increase in confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in North Sumatra is currently in Gunungsitoli City, with 62.87 cases per 100,000 population per week as of Sunday, February 6, 2022. This figure is 21.9 cases higher than the second-highest area.
The COVID-19 transmission situation in Gunungsitoli City shows no signs of improvement. This is indicated by the number of cases this week, which is still higher than the previous week's figure of 0.68 cases per 100,000 population per week.
Pematangsiantar City is in second place, recording 41.01 weekly confirmed cases per 100,000 population. Compared to last week, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week is still higher, meaning there is no visible improvement.
Rounding out the top five, besides the two areas above, are Medan City, Sibolga City, and Nias, recording 29.43, 11.4, and 10.32 weekly confirmed cases respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five cities/regencies in the top 10 are Padangsidimpuan City, Simalungun Regency, Deli Serdang Regency, and Binjai City. These areas recorded an average increase of more than three cases per 100,000 population.
The good news from this province is that three regencies/cities recorded no increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
Other information from today's daily COVID-19 data statistics shows that 415 regencies/cities in Indonesia recorded a higher increase compared to last week, and 35 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly confirmations than the previous week.
