Data as of Wednesday, August 3, 2022, shows the national average examination is recorded at 168.61 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Bontang City, Sorong City, Pangkal Pinang City, Jayapura City, and Blora Regency, with specimen numbers per week of 997, 984, 975, 960, and 877 respectively.
Bontang City is ranked first. With a population of 185,460, the number of specimens examined here is recorded at 997 per week. The latest positive rate is 14.75 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Sorong City. The population in this region is recorded at 282,370. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined is 984 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 2.17 percent, also increasing compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Pangkal Pinang City recorded 975 specimens examined per week, Jayapura City recorded 960 specimens per week, and Blora Regency recorded 877 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 45 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 40 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Bontang City, Sorong City, and Pangkal Pinang City, with 997, 984, and 975 specimens examined respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
