Starting mid-July 2022, a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, also known as a booster shot, will be a requirement for public activities and mobility. The government implemented this policy due to the still low national booster vaccination rate.
"The government will also re-implement the booster vaccination requirement as a condition for travel by air, land, and sea, which will be implemented within a maximum of two weeks," said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan in his press release on Monday (4/7/2022).
Based on data from the Ministry of Health's vaccination dashboard as of July 4, 2022, at 6:00 PM WIB, booster vaccination coverage has only reached 51.1 million doses or 24.55% of the national Covid-19 vaccination target.
West Java remains the province with the highest number of booster vaccine recipients in Indonesia, with a total of 12.47 million recipients.
Central Java is in second place with 6.9 million third-dose vaccinations. This is followed by East Java and DKI Jakarta with 6.4 million and 4.1 million booster vaccinations, respectively.
Meanwhile, the trend of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia has seen a resurgence in recent weeks. This occurred after the emergence of new Omicron subvariants, namely BA.4 and BA.5.
Therefore, the government continues to push for Covid-19 vaccination and urges the public to remain vigilant and adhere to health protocols.
