To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 158 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Tuesday, July 19, 2022, shows the national average testing rate is 1.3 people per 1000 population/week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Badung, West Jakarta, and South Tangerang, with respective figures of 13.26 people per 1000 population/week, 12.07 people per 1000 population/week, 9.04 people per 1000 population/week, 8.58 people per 1000 population/week, and 8.32 people per 1000 population/week.
South Jakarta ranks first. The number of people tested there is recorded at 13.26 per 1000 population/week. The latest positive rate is 10.32 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Central Jakarta. The population of this region is recorded at 913,720. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested is 12.07 per 1000 population/week. The positive rate in this region is 9.74 percent, also higher than the previous week's percentage.
Then, Badung, with a population of 727,950, recorded 9.04 Covid-19 tests per 1000 population/week. The number of people tested in West Jakarta is recorded at 8.58 per 1000 population/week, and in South Tangerang at 8.32 per 1000 population/week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 312 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 63 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Badung, Balikpapan City, and Mimika, with 9.04, 7.31, and 7.27 people tested respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
