According to data from the Hajj and Umrah Directorate General (DJPHU) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Siskohat system as of Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 2:40 PM WIB, 23 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims had passed away by the 17th day of the Hajj pilgrimage.
Of this number, 14 pilgrims died in Madinah, representing 61% of the total number of pilgrims who died in the Holy Land.
Seven Indonesian pilgrims died in Mecca, and two others in Jeddah.
All deceased pilgrims were categorized as high-risk (risti), with 14 of them being elderly.
Cumulatively, the number of deceased pilgrims up to the 17th day is lower than last year's figure of 37.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Religious Affairs also stated that all deceased pilgrims had entered embarkation and would receive insurance and have their Hajj rituals performed on their behalf before leaving debarkation.
“Based on a report from the Indonesian Hajj Organizing Committee in Saudi Arabia on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 1:00 AM WIB, 109,898 pilgrims had arrived in the Holy Land,” said Hajj Media Center officer Widi Dwinanda in a statement, as reported by *Antara*, Monday, May 27, 2024.
He explained that all pilgrims who had arrived in Saudi Arabia were from a combination of pilgrims divided into 256 flight groups (kloter).
