Based on the forest and land fire monitoring system SiPongi from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the last 24 hours detected 15,141 hotspots across Indonesia. This figure is 9,325 hotspots lower than the previous monitoring period.

This data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Monday (31/8/2026) at 11.36 WIB. Out of the 15,141 detected hotspots: 723 have high confidence level, 14,140 medium confidence, and 278 low confidence.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 tiers: low (0–29), medium (30–79), high (80–100). Higher hotspot confidence indicates greater likelihood of active forest and land fires in that area.

The highest hotspot count was recorded in West Kalimantan with 5,915 points, followed by Central Kalimantan (5,048) and South Sumatra (750).

Additional detected hotspots: 460 in East Kalimantan, 417 in Maluku, 365 in South Kalimantan, and 334 in East Nusa Tenggara.

Hotspots are geographic coordinates registering higher surface temperature than surrounding areas — this count does not equal the number of fire incidents.

However, dense clusters of high quantity hotspots are reliable indicators of active wildfire events. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for large-scale forest fire monitoring.
