The Ministry of Health is prepared to distribute 5.4 million Covid-19 vaccines throughout Indonesia during the first week of August 2021. This includes 1.4 million doses for the first vaccination and 4 million doses for the second.
"In total, Bio Farma has 5.1 million doses in stock, plus 5.4 million doses of newly released Covid-19 products as of July 29, 2021. Therefore, Bio Farma has a total stock of 10.5 million doses ready for shipment, in addition to bulk vaccines currently in production," stated Bio Farma spokesperson Bambang Heriyanto in a press release on Friday, July 30, 2021.
West Java will receive the largest number of first doses, with 347,800 doses. Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta will receive the most second doses, with 587,300 doses.
According to the Ministry of Health's data, as of Monday, August 2, 2021, 47,686,483 people in Indonesia have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and 20,934,425 have received their second dose.
However, with these numbers, only 22.90% of the target population of 208,265,720 have received their first dose. Coverage for the second dose is only 10.05% of the target.
Although the Covid-19 vaccination program is underway, the public is urged to remain disciplined in implementing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. This is crucial to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
