The immunization coverage of fertile women in Indonesia is only 16.4% in the first quarter of 2026. Here's the breakdown of the data.

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reported that in the first quarter of 2026, the immunization rate among women of childbearing age in Indonesia reached 16.4%. While the target immunization rate for this period was 17.8%.

Nevertheless, this coverage is 8.6 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

It was noted that only 7 out of 38 provinces have met the target immunization rate for women of childbearing age in the first quarter of 2026. Central Java had the highest rate with a reach of 30.1%.

Here is a list of the 10 provinces with the highest immunization coverage for women of childbearing age in Indonesia in the first quarter of 2026:

2. Riau Islands: 25.2%
3. DKI Jakarta: 23.9%
4. Banten: 22.8%
5. East Java: 21.2%
6. South Kalimantan: 18.8%
7. South Sumatra: 17.8%
8. Bali: 16.9%
9. North Sumatra: 16.8%
10. South Sulawesi: 16.5%

Immunization for women of childbearing age is carried out on women aged 15-49 years to maintain reproductive health, prepare for a healthy pregnancy, and protect against infectious diseases.

The types of vaccines administered include TT (Tetanus Toxoid), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), HPV (Human Papillomavirus), chickenpox (varicella), and influenza.

"For women, the HPV vaccine is very effective in protecting against cervical cancer," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin at a working meeting with Commission IX of the House of Representatives on Monday (20/4/2026).

According to him, the mortality rate from cervical cancer worldwide is tending to decrease, while in Indonesia it is actually increasing because the HPV vaccine has not been widely implemented for long.

"Now we have launched the HPV vaccine nationwide for ages 10-11 years, and it is also being pursued for ages 15-16 years," said Budi.
