Air Pollution Saturday Night (20/9): West Java Worst, How About Other Regions?

Air quality in West Java tonight is the worst in Indonesia. Based on the Air Pollution Standard Index (APSI) page of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) on Saturday (20/9/2025) at 6:00 PM Western Indonesian Time, it was revealed that the air quality index in West Java was 103.

According to the Directorate of Air Pollution Control, KLHK, APSI is a unitless number used to describe ambient air quality conditions in a specific location and is based on the impact on human health, aesthetic value, and other living things.

APSI calculation is based on the measurement results of seven air pollutant parameters, namely PM10, PM2.5, NO2, SO2, CO, O3, and HC. Measurements of these air pollutant parameters are spread across 72 stations in various regions.

Based on KLHK Regulation No. 14 of 2020 on the Air Pollution Standard Index, an APSI in the range of 0-50 indicates good air quality, a range of 51-100 means moderate air quality, and a range of 101-200 indicates unhealthy air quality that is detrimental to humans, animals, and plants.

Furthermore, very unhealthy air quality in the range of 201-300 can increase health risks for sensitive groups. Meanwhile, hazardous air quality in the range of more than 300 can seriously harm health and requires rapid handling.

Below West Java, DKI Jakarta ranked second worst in Indonesia with an air quality index of 99. Then, in third place was Banten with an air quality index of 95.

This means that no regions had hazardous air quality.

The following is a list of the 10 provinces with the worst air quality index in Indonesia on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 6:00 PM Western Indonesian Time.

2. DKI Jakarta: 99

3. Banten: 95

4. Riau: 94

5. South Sumatra: 92

6. Jambi: 87

7. North Sumatra: 86

8. North Sumatra: 84

9. Central Kalimantan: 74

10. Central Java: 69
