Today's COVID-19 Provincial Data Update: West Java Reports the Highest Increase (Thursday, March 17, 2022)

Indonesia today recorded 11,532 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 5.94 million as of Thursday, March 17, 2022. The five provinces with the highest number of new cases today are West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, East Nusa Tenggara, and East Java.

1. West Java recorded 2,470 new cases

West Java ranks first. The increase in cases here was recorded at 2,470 cases, or a 0.23 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 1.08 million. With this addition, the total number of cases in West Java is now 1.08 million.

Not only did it record the highest number of new cases, West Java also recorded 21 deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in West Java has reached 15,487.

The trend of case development in this region over the past week has decreased. This can be seen from the lower confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to last week.

Conversely, the positive rate in this region has increased over the past week. According to the Ministry of Health, the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is recorded at 25 percent.

2. DKI Jakarta recorded 1,583 new cases

3. Central Java recorded 1,450 new cases

4. East Nusa Tenggara recorded 771 new cases
