On the following day, Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 3 PM, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) will announce the results of the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) on the official portal https://pengumuman-snbp.snpmb.id/.
This is a pathway for entering public universities (PTN) without a written test, instead relying on the academic and non-academic achievements of prospective students during their school years.
So, how many PTN are there throughout Indonesia? According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in 2025, there were 127 PTN across Indonesia under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. This number increased from 125 PTN in 2024.
In 2025, East Java became the province with the most PTN in Indonesia, namely 17 units. It was followed by West Java with 12 units and Central Java with 9 units. If combined, the three provinces account for 70% of all PTNs in Indonesia.
However, there are no PTNs in South West Papua, Central Papua, and Mountainous Papua.

In general, there are 2,840 universities across Indonesia in 2025. The majority, or 95.5%, are private, with only 4.5% being public universities.
