To suppress the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 76 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, October 15, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 16.13 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Balikpapan City, Badung Regency, Mimika Regency, Surakarta City, and Semarang City, with ratios of 433.23 percent, 281.73 percent, 261.61 percent, 243.82 percent, and 223.15 percent, respectively.
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the weekly testing percentage is recorded at 433.23 percent. The latest positive rate is 2.44 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Badung Regency. The population in this region is recorded at 727,950. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 281.73 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 2.49 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Mimika Regency, with a population of 221,810, has a weekly testing percentage of 261.61 percent; Surakarta City has a testing percentage of 243.82 percent; and the weekly testing percentage in Semarang City is recorded at 223.15 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 196 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 148 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week's testing.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentage ratios include Balikpapan City, Badung Regency, and Mimika Regency, with weekly testing percentages of 433.23 percent, 281.73 percent, and 261.61 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
