The COVID-19 situation in Blitar City still requires government attention due to the consistently high weekly positive confirmation rate of 74.39 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Data from the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, placed Blitar City first among 38 other regencies/cities in East Java Province.
In addition to the highest confirmation rate, the number of hospital inpatient beds used in this region is also relatively high, with a recent figure of 69.82 patients per 100,000 inhabitants per week. However, despite this high rate compared to other areas, the Ministry of Health categorized the region as "moderate" in its assessment yesterday.
This assessment applies to three measured criteria: testing, tracing, and response capacity. Blitar City is categorized as "adequate" in terms of treatment. This is due to the improved hospital bed occupancy rate, which has fallen to the minimum 60 percent recommended by the Ministry of Health.
Compared to other regencies/cities, the latest COVID-19 data also shows a national death rate ranking of 26th. However, compared to other regencies in East Java, the death rate in this region is ranked first, as shown in the chart where the larger circle size indicates a higher death rate per region (a larger circle indicates a worse situation).
To control COVID-19 in this region, 1,292 specimens were examined in the last seven days. Blitar City's positive rate is recorded at eight percent.
Regarding the COVID-19 vaccination update in Blitar City, the first dose has reached 81.78 percent, covering 94,741 vaccine recipients. Of this number, 55,707 people have received the second dose, achieving a rate of 48.09 percent.
