The Ministry of Health targets a daily oxygen supply of 2,262 tons for Java and Bali to handle Covid-19. The largest oxygen suppliers are still concentrated in DKI Jakarta, as this province is targeted to supply 576.5 tons per day.
West Java follows with a target daily oxygen production of 514.5 tons. East Java and Central Java follow with oxygen supplies of 472.8 tons and 446.2 tons per day, respectively. Banten's oxygen production is also targeted at 133 tons per day.
Only Bali and Yogyakarta have daily oxygen production targets below 100 tons per day. They are expected to supply 66.8 tons and 52.3 tons per day, respectively.
Meanwhile, the government calculates the daily oxygen needs based on occupied beds (intensive and isolation) to reach 1,928 tons per day. The highest need remains in DKI Jakarta at 519.4 tons per day.
This oxygen supply will be distributed to 1,608 hospitals in Java and Bali that are currently implementing emergency community activity restrictions (PPKM). It is hoped that this oxygen supply can support 807 intensive care beds and 1,455 isolation beds.
The oxygen shortage on Java Island is due to the additional Covid-19 patient beds requiring medical gas cylinders. Meanwhile, the availability of gas cylinders is minimal because they are not produced in Indonesia. Poor distribution also hinders the oxygen supply.
