The main challenges are resistance from customers, a lack of expert staff, and managing data security.

Hospital technology infrastructure not supporting AI implementation: 12%
Lack of management understanding of the benefits and implementation methods of AI technology: 8.3%
Don't know/no obstacles: 10.3%

APJII also found that only 21.7% of healthcare institutions in Indonesia were using AI technology at the beginning of 2026.

Of the group of healthcare institutions that are already using AI, most are utilizing the technology to automatically answer patient questions through chatbot services (32.9%).

APJII conducted this survey from February 1 to March 15, 2026, on 300 healthcare institutions that use the internet for their operations throughout Indonesia.

The survey method used was face-to-face interviews, sample determination with multistage random sampling, and a margin of error of +/- 5.60%.
