The top five, starting from the highest, are Balikpapan City, Badung Regency, Mimika Regency, Kepulauan Seribu Islands Regency, and Surakarta City, with percentages of 408.07 percent, 289.7 percent, 250.89 percent, 225 percent, and 222.2 percent, respectively.
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, its weekly testing percentage is recorded at 408.07 percent. The latest positive rate is 2.32 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Badung Regency. The population of this region is recorded at 727,950. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 289.7 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 2.37 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Furthermore, the weekly testing percentage in Mimika Regency is recorded at 250.89 percent, Kepulauan Seribu Islands Regency at 225 percent, and Surakarta City at 222.2 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 180 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting higher weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 173 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Balikpapan City, Badung Regency, and Mimika Regency, with weekly testing percentages of 408.07 percent, 289.7 percent, and 250.89 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
