The top five, starting with the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Jayapura City (963 specimens), Kediri City (934 specimens), Bantul (912 specimens), Pasuruan (885 specimens), and Gianyar (875 specimens).
Jayapura City ranks first. With a population of 309,760, the number of specimens examined is 963 per week. The latest positive rate is 15.03 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Kediri City. The population of this region is 292,930. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined is 934 per week. The positive rate in this region is 21.15 percent, also up from the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, the number of specimens examined in Bantul is 912 per week, Pasuruan recorded 885 specimens per week, and Gianyar recorded 875 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 132 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 131 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Jayapura City, Gianyar, and Padang City, with 963, 875, and 861 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
