To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, currently 150 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Thursday, July 21, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 88.24 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to the weekly target of each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Badung, Mimika, Balikpapan City, Tarakan City, and Surabaya City, with ratios of 909.2 percent, 842.86 percent, 810.71 percent, 704.89 percent, and 673.68 percent, respectively.
Badung is ranked first. With a population of 727,950, the weekly testing percentage is recorded at 909.2 percent. The latest positive rate is 5.08 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Mimika. The population in this region is recorded at 221,810. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 842.86 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 2.12 percent, or higher than the previous week's percentage.
Then, Balikpapan City, with a population of 646,020, has a weekly testing percentage of 810.71 percent. Tarakan City's weekly testing percentage is recorded at 704.89 percent, and Surabaya City's weekly testing percentage is recorded at 673.68 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 355 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 35 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week's testing.
Regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentage ratios include Badung, Mimika, and Balikpapan City, with weekly testing percentages of 909.2 percent, 842.86 percent, and 810.71 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
